Setup how do I start

For your convenience, upon installation Berg generates key pages, menus and settings so it looks simillar to our demo, just no pictures, and is much easier for you to customize.

Although some aspects of the theme are set automatically, you might need to change or add few things, to do so please read the manual to understand the logic and principles we are using with Berg.

All sections (Blog, Bookings, Contact etc.) are based on Pages and Post Templates as well as Visual Composer and our YOPRESS to let you further build your unique experience and to make your theme truly yours.

Page Template

It's a set of visual characteristics that makes a page you assign it to look in a specific way, for example posts are displayed and arranged in a specific visual way, and a map for example appears at the top of that page, instead of bottom etc. The look depends on the Page Template. Berg comes with few of them. There is one Default Template that lets you create pages with no specific look. Since we are using Visual Composer each of the page can be custom made.

Visual Composer

Visual Composer is a lot of fun and it is like building your pages / posts / portfolio with Lego bricks.

Set step by step

To further explain our set up let me go step by step of our Demo.

I start with creating Pages and assigning Post Templates to them, so I have:

  • Home Page with Home template
  • Blog Page with one of Blog Templates
  • Restaurant Page with Vertical Slider template
  • Portfolio Page with Portfolio Template
  • Food Menu Page with one of Food Menu Templates
  • Contact Page with Contact Template
  • Bookings Page with Reservation Template

Now let me explain how to create a page and assign Post Template to it. You start with creating New Page in Wordpress admin panel, next, name it as you wish, it makes sense to name it so that it resembles its function ie. contact, menu etc. Create New Page

Next you need to assign Post Template from Page Attribute Panel on the right hand side. So if you want to create Contact page you need to assign Contact template to it, for Food Menu you would choose one of Food Menu templates (List, Pictures or no Pictures) and so on. Assign Page Template

Page Settings – depending on the Template you choose you have set of settings to use. Settings takes values from yopress, we set the defaults for you. You can change the defaults or you can adjust each page settings separately. Additionally some templates has template specific settings, they are listed above. The general settings are:

Template Intro Setting
this settings determine the visibility and size of the intro section which comes before the main content. You can choose to have it set to Full Screen, Half Screen or none. Intro Section displays Intro Title and Intro Content which need to be filled under the main page content box. If left empty you will have just picture. Intro Section uses Featured Image.
Start Opacity
lets you set the opacity of the Intro Section background
End Opacity
lets you set the ending opacity of the Intro Section background
Open / Close Navigation
lets you determine if you want to have navigation open or close by default
Navigation Background Opacity
let you determine the level of opacity, if any
Footer
lets you enable / disable footer or set it to default (yopress) value
